FIS 2026 Summit

On may 27th, Roodhals Capital had the pleasure of hosting FIS 2026, the 4th annual summit at the beautiful Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague.

What started as the Market Place Lending Summit has evolved alongside the industry. Today, the conversations extend far beyond marketplace lending, bringing together investors, banks, asset managers, fintechs and specialty finance providers to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of financial services.

With a full house of 100 industry professionals, we reflected on private debt, mortgage and SME lending, specialty and consumer finance. The day was filled with insightful discussions, differing perspectives and plenty of food for thought. A few conclusions can be drawn from the various panels and the keynote:

  • The outlook for European private debt remains constructive despite ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty.
  • Interest-only mortgages and home equity solutions are creating new opportunities for non-bank lenders as banks continue to actively manage exposures.
  • Capital is returning to SME finance, although the market still has a point to prove on performance and scalability.
  • Asset-backed financing structures for SME lending are increasingly becoming investable for institutional capital.
  • Regulatory uncertainty around CCD2 continues to leave both BNPL providers and traditional consumer credit lenders searching for clarity.

Most importantly, however, it was great to see so many familiar and new faces come together. In an industry that is constantly evolving, there is tremendous value in exchanging ideas, challenging assumptions and strengthening relationships in an informal setting.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, panellists and guests for making the day such a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation.
